NOTE TO THE WINE EXPLORER

A Note To The Reader

This Wine List has been written with your enjoyment in mind. To that extent we have included tasting notes on every wine in this list. You’ll find that a wine will be followed with a note of (Nose/Palate/Finish).

NoseThe Nose of a wine is meant to define the way a wine smells in the glass. Many different wines and grapes produce different smells and odors that may seem unique at first but are indicative of both the wine in the glass and the vintner’s intent. The nose of a wine is the first step in tasting a wine and is meant to set up the actual tasting.

PalateThe Palate of a wine is the different levels of taste and the characteristics that a wine conveys through the way it feels in the mouth, the sense memories it presents, and even the way it looks in the glass. Wine can have a complex taste that reminds us of many things, and the palate of a wine is a way to quantify these feelings and tastes.

FinishThe Finish of a wine is the taste and sense that is leftover once a wine is swallowed. The taste that lingers on the tongue after swallowing a wine can be measured in many different ways from smooth to tart to spicy. Some wines can have finishes that linger while others may have one that vanishes fairly quickly.

Finally, it should be noted that all tasting is subjective. If you don’t find the same notes in a wine, do not be discouraged. Many people find different smells and tastes in wine and we encourage all guests to write their own tasting notes when appreciating a bottle from our cellar.

L’Chaim! À votre santé! Chin Chin! Salud! Enjoy!

PLEASE NOTE: As Blood & Sand continues to offer an extensive wine list, we understand there are special bottles you may want to share at our establishment. Although we do allow individuals to bring in bottles from their own collection, we appreciate each guest adhering to the following:

1) If the bottle (vintage & producer & size) is available in Blood & Sand’s cellar, we would appreciate you saving this bottle for another time as we do not permit that particular bottle to be opened on property.

2) Blood & Sand will apply a $25 corkage fee to each bottle opened that is brought from an outside collection.

3) Blood & Sand only allows one bottle to be consumed from off property per every 2 people in the party (i.e. - 4 people = 2 bottles consumed from an outside collection.

Thank you again for enjoying our wonderful wine collection and we cannot wait to imbibe with you again very soon!
